### tldr; - __Oria__ used through the USB C cable - __Oria__ control volume by pressing the volume button and using the dial (64 means -64dB, 10 means -10dB and is much louder. 0 is calibrated and is as loud as it gets) - __Your Computer__ set the channels 1-12 to the standard speaker arrangement below. - ## Channels - 7.1.4 | Channel | Speaker | Notes | | ------- | ------- | ----------------------------------------- | | 1 | L | Top left of the XR Screen | | 2 | R | Top right of the XR Screen | | 3 | C | Above the XR Screen | | 4 | LFE | At the base of the XR Screen on the right | | 5 | Ls | side left truss | | 6 | Rs | side right truss | | 7 | Lr | back left truss | | 8 | Rr | back right truss | | 9 | TLf | above, front left truss | | 10 | TRf | above, front right truss | | 11 | TLb | above, behind left truss | | 12 | TRb | above, behind right truss | The oria can accept up to 9.1.6 e.g. 16 channels but we only have the speakers for 7.1.4. The channels that we are not using are Lw, Rw (wide-left and wide-right) and TLc, TRc (top-left-center and top-right-center). ## XR Studio Audio Usage ### Preparation - [ ] Download and install the drivers for the Audient Oria as well as the Oria Control application. If you can't reach the latest installers for your computer you can download an archived set here. - [ ] Mac: [Oria Control and Driver](Oria-MAC-Drivers.zip) - [ ] Windows: [Oria Control & Drivers](Oria-PC-Drivers.zip) - [ ] [ Windows ] You may want to install something that handles multichannel audio much better such as [VB-Coconut](https://vb-audio.com/Matrix/coconut.htm), VB-Matrix, or the sort-of-simpler version Voltmeeter Banana. ### Setup - [ ] open the Oria Control app and make sure that it connects to the Oria. If it doesn't appear, re-do the installations above and restart your computer. - [ ] You may need to use a higher bandwidth USB-C input. We have had trouble with low bandwidth USB on windows. Thunderbolt is best. - [ ] Select a profile on the left - One of the profiles labeled 7.1.4 - [ ] 7.1.4 - 96k 512 (high sample rate - likely overkill) - [ ] 7.1.4 - 48k 512 (a good setup for most applications including ones with Unreal, Godot, Unity - or Touchdesigner, MaxMSP, Supercollider, etc.) - [ ] 7.1.4 - 48k 256 (for low latency I/O realtime applications. e.g. if you have a mic'd performer and want the output to be near-simultaneous) ### Direct Usage - [ ] Plug the Audient Oria into your computer through USB-C - [ ] In your audio application set the outputs to multichannel in the channel arrangement above. - [ ] You can also do 5.1 or 7.1 by using the first 6 or 8 channels (5.1 can also use the first 4 channels, skip two and channels 7 and 8 if you want more surround) - [ ] Superstereo can be achieved by mapping L to 1, 5, 7, 9, 11 and 4 for the LFE; R to 2, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 4 for the LFE. - [ ] Play and enable one channel at a time to check that it is routed correctly. - [ ] On the Oria, press the volume button and use the dial to change the overall volume (it is displayed in -dB e.g. 128 is -128dB) you can also see the audio levels on each channel 1-12. ### ADAT Inputs coming... ### Dante Input coming... ### HDMI Input (Denon) - will play Dolby Atmos, Dolby DTS, MPEG-H encoded files - Will play audio stripped from HDMI coming... ### Notes on the Future - [ ] Will be adding a Dante adapter for the local network - then could route through Dante - [ ] Can connect an ADAT input for another audio interface. - [ ] Perhaps we can create a Stereo input via the ADATs that will automatically go Super Stereo. - [ ] Unfortunately can't automatically route the Inputs on the front to Superstereo - although you can do this through your computer very easily. - [ ] ORIA Control iPad App - haven't tried it yet ## Devices & Software Audient Oria - Audio interface for speaker calibration and computer I/O. 2 channels of Mic/line inputs, 16 ADAT lightpipe, 16 via Dante. 16 channels out - we are using 12 channels to each of our 7.1.4 speakers. - [Oria Website](https://audient.com/products/monitor-controllers/oria/overview) - [User Guide and Software Link](https://audient.com/products/monitor-controllers/oria/downloads/) Oria Control [SoundID Reference](https://www.sonarworks.com/soundid-reference) - software for seting up sound calibration for headphones, stereo speakers, or multichannel setups like we have in the XR Studio. [SoundID Reference for Multichannel](https://www.sonarworks.com/soundid-reference/multichannel) - this is basically a different license for the above software. The software is set up to make stereo calibrations. This is to the point that when you create a full multichannel profile, it warns you that it will only apply the calibrations for 2 channels. You can still export your profile onto a multichannel device like the Audient Oria and it will use all of the multichannel calibrations in the profile. (it's a little awkward) SoundID Measurement - This is the software (installed with SoundID Reference) where measurements are taken for the XR studio speakers - [XR Studio Speaker profile can be downloaded here](7.1.4 studio - 2026-01-20.swproj.zip). ## SoundID Calibration Profiles ### Links - [Export Profile to Multichannel Devices](https://support.sonarworks.com/hc/en-us/articles/4407057579922-Profile-export-to-supported-devices-SoundID-Reference-integrations) - [Exporting Specifically to the ORIA](https://support.sonarworks.com/hc/en-us/articles/17675566853778-Exporting-a-calibration-profile-for-Audient-ORIA) ![](What's%20included%20in%20the%20profile%20export%20-%20DSP%20settings.png)
